Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71502573 The White House announced today that tariffs have been delayed temporarily for certain items coming from China, such as TVs, computers, video games, and even Christmas decorations. This is to help the holiday shopping season. But I thought he said China's paying, not US consumers. Like Mexico... No, you are confused. Mexico was simply going to pay for the wall. |

Crap quality at a low price so you can buy another one in two years when the first one breaks. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74775434 Been doing the same but it keeps getting harder when there is no substitute. Even a lot of car parts are only made in China. |

Pre-trump our revenue growth was roughly 5-15% annually over 9 years with 3 years of flat non growth. With Trump we are close to 40% growth last year and it’s looking like another 40% year again this year. I’ve never seen growth like this. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77134005 You would prefer the money go to foreign economies? Or, conversely, consumers are buying American goods and the money is going right back into the American economy. Tariffs, not taxation of labor was the original plan to pay the governments bills. Instead, that was changed and the American people bought a huge hungry beast that operates in it's interest, not We The Peoples. |

Trump is just taxing the people that can least afford it. |

Cornwall UK User ID: 41102344 United Kingdom 08/13/2019 04:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Normally when a Tariff is imposed it is followed by some sort of financial concession in favor of locally producing the good or service on which the tariff was imposed. If a tariff blocks products from passing through a border because of a price hike on a good or service, the local government would seek to manufacture the said product or otherwise assist with financing. Trump did nothing like this, he imposed a tariff and did not help the farmers, the effect caused a failure. He lost the markets of the farmers, then gave them free money which they used to pay off debt. He lost the Tariff war. His base does not understand what a tariff means. Farmers will now sell their land to the very people who won the Tariff war. He then will have to close the Embassies to block out the Chinese investors who are poised to purchase all of the lands. |

Quoting: Cornwall UK 41102344 His base does not understand what a tariff means. Wrong snaggletooth. The Tariff is what is supposed to fund our government; proscribed by our Constitution. Somewhere in the past we got away from this .. and our country has suffered because of it. Our manufacturing base is gone. What if we have to fight the next war? Yeah. Snaggletooth. |

Remember, in the converse example where American products are bought, the money goes directly into the economy, the money only goes to the tariff when the foreign goods are bought. This is one of the three basic legitimate reasons for having a Federal government. |

Chinese "heritage/historical" trinkets, and some carefully-monitored foodstuffs is all we should be importing. |
