How'd you like it if Texas tried to secede, the president sent troops to restore law and order, but China and Russia would start supporting the seceding state? Actually, Taiwan has always claimed independence. It started when Mao took over and his partner in crime did not want to be part of what Mao was leading the country to so he up and left with anyone willing to support him and they settled in Taiwan.
