Report: Food Prices | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77882573 United States 08/16/2019 02:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am making this thread simply because I have noticed a gradual to drastic price in various food prices across the board at my local Brookshire's store the last time I shopped there two or so days ago. I noticed that chicken food product prices rose drastically while cheese prices rose just a little. Quoting: darkwolf007 I figure the chicken prices are raising so fast and so high is because of all the vast flooding that hit so much of the Great Plains States earlier this year. That vast flooding destroyed so many farmers' lives, livestock, and properties. Most of their lives are unrecoverable. Tens of millions of cattle, chicken, and other livestock were drowned in the flooding last I knew. Even beef prices have jumped up a dollar or more per pound recently too. Cheese prices shouldn't jump up too much in prices for a while longer due to I think many cheese manufacturers have up to a vast supply in waiting. This is usually due to aging various cheeses for specific reasons. Nope, no food price inflation here. /s Who are you kidding? Vegan food prices are WAY higher than comparable non-vegan options. My SO is a vegan and most of the prices she pays for her food is ridiculous, never mind that it's all soy and msg. Man tits, brain fog and hormone swings? No thanks. |

Quoting: Peepaws I don't know how people making minimum wage or living on a fixed income are expected to survive. I'm in Western WA too and if it weren't for the Grocery Outlet I'd be screwed. Rent has gone up 250.00 in 3 years and I worry what next year's increase will be. Grocery Outlet is the best, they have tons of organic food, just expanded their produce section again. I can pretty much get everything I need there, for about half the price of shopping at our overpriced natural foods co-op. But I'm a single person living alone, a vegetarian, cook all my own meals from scratch, mostly buy fresh produce and a few dairy products and quality oils, probably spending $300.00 a month on food, and that doesn't count non-food household products. I never eat in restaurants, only on very rare occasions. I know that's a lot more than I used to spend, for sure. |

What you save on your grocery bill will go towards your health problems. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77840146 It's better to spend $100 extra per month on fresh food, that $10,000 for chemotherapy or some high prioced drug the doctor orders. Old friend of mine used to say "If you don't spend it at the grocery store now, you'll spend it at the hospital later" words of wisdom from a rough old blue collar guy. |

And that cheaper than the others. 2 packs of about 2.5 pounds of fresh pork backbones were 5.35 and 5.31. A pc. I took em home and washed everything and divided them up and put em in the freezer. Everything is going up. |
