Of course there are valid concerns about it being a slippery slope. However, SOMETHING MUST BE DONE to insure that those with verified SERIOUS psychiatric illnesses(hearing voices, terrorist threats etc.) don't get weapons that have the ability to mow down a lot of people. It's COMMON SENSE.
