It's based on more than 'think'.
When a call goes out for a domestic violence it usually ends up with the man taken to jail, sometimes the woman and sometimes both.
That's also usually done through he said, she said evidence. Unless something really obvious is present.
It's a judgement call that cops make every day and because they have authority sometimes people can be taken away simply for 'disturbing the peace' which can be highly judgmental and sometimes racial or bigoted or the result of a bad day.
When a person is incarcerated under these 'judgement's' its a loss of basic freedom. The 1st right for every human and whose the front-line judge - the police.
Now in the case of red-flag gun laws we aren't talking about a domestic 2-person outcome. The potential is stopping a mass shooting incident.
let's say these laws save 100 people a year, would that be worth some inconvenience to gun-owners. It's the fringe-violent owners (like the punk Connor Betts) that are fuckin things up for all law abiding gun-owners not the red-flag laws currently on the books...so far.
