Police confirmed on Tuesday that Ney had a significant background of mental health issues and that he'd escaped from a mental health ward in the days before the alleged stabbing. The Daily Telegraph reports Ney was in the psychiatric ward at Blacktown Hospital and was receiving treatment for a drug overdose.
