That was something else though, seeing and driving through all that water rushing through the streets....and I'm sure it could've been much worse. I've seen video of much, much worse. Birds are singing, and a soft breeze is breezin'. I didn't even have to turn my AC back on. It's been off all night.... Quoting: cosmicgypsy All is well in Alamo....I think. This was my first flash flood experience. I'm a bit ashamed because I know that there are hella lot worse flash floods-- [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Water in a rage is a super powerful force, and I feel fortunate me and mine are safe and well.... It can be serious stuff! One thing I never had to deal with was flooding. The town I lived in in VT had a huge flood and places I knew were under water. There's serious elevation changes in that town so it was pretty bad and mind blowing at the same time. |

Alamo is right at the base of some of the Sacramento Mt. range....and there are no trees on those mountains. The water just rushes down them. I've before opened my back door and the water line is right up to the door. It does make me nervous. It was already a big mess by the time I got back into town, I know it had to of been raining BUCKETS before we even got here. Oops! Kitteh is puking! Poor thing. It's been a long time since she's done that or tossed her kittey bits. She seems to be fine now. She just attacked my feet while I was tinkling....her favorite place to attack me, because I can't dodge her while mid-stream. She's getting better about not putting her claws out lately, so there is at least that.... You never change things by fighting the existing reality. I found one of our cats not coming in when I called him. He was just sitting there with his mouth moving yet looking dazed. When I went to him he was chewing a toad! I think it got him stoned for four or five days, then he spent two days puking everywhere he went. Oh, here is the flood we had last year June. I had never seen so much water across the road since I've lived here. There are actually three vehicles in the picture in the water, but the one on the right fell off of the road into the ditch so the water is over its roof. That would be traumatizing....yikes, and nasty tasting. Turns my stomach. I bought a small water proof safe some months back to keep my important papers and stuffs in, but I couldn't figure out how to use it and returned it....either it was defective, or I am defective I'm acutely aware of the chances of bad flooding happening here, and I have things I want to keep safe from water damage. For now, I'm just keeping those things up high....'cause one never knows around here. When we left town for my client's appt. I commented how I didn't think the clouds had any rain in them for us. They were just white and fluffy. By three hours later, all hell had broken loose. And oddly enough, it was only like that over about half the town. For sure, it was an experience!....
