Ha! Nice seeing them all getting long for a change, as opposed to the usual Hummer Wars I get to see.

Yesterday, out of nowhere came a hummer dive-bombing another that was almost near one of my feeders...chasing him away with a vengeance, yet, not even going to the feeder himself. For pretty little guys they can certainly be quite nasty.

The ones here are iridescent blue and green, with a little tinge of red sometimes.

Thanks for the video!

I have to have about five feeders spread around in different areas so it's too hard for a bully bird to guard all the feeders. Eventually, swarms of them will come around and that's when you can see multiple birds on the same feeder.

I only have a couple, but they are very aggressive in their desire to let me know what they want. If their food gets a few days old or low, they dive bomb me and sit in the tree and chatter at me. There's a lot of personality packed in those little bodies.

Such a cool video. I've never seen that many hummingbirds all together like that! The most I've seen together in our yard is four, and they fight over the feeders. Thanks for sharing this video, OP.

Years ago a hummingbird hit our large plate glass window then fell to our deck.
In order to save it from the 'cat pack' I carefully picked it up and while it was in the palm of my hand it slowly animated. It looked at me for a bit as it regained its composure. Its wings began to whir but it hovered over my hand a bit before take off.
It was one of the most memorable moments. Like a little fairy from a storybook.

Is there a good way to have a hummingbird feeder without it turning into a hornet/wasp/hummingbird death arena?

Yeah leme tell ya something about that. Once ya get so old yer living fossilized carcass can't stand any more noise, some grandmas have been reported to sneak a couple moth balls into the feeder while mom's watering the flowers the birdies were supposed to be earning their way, pollinating to begin with. Few moments later the little birdies GRENADE in a tiny mushroom cloud. Grandma just slips on her cop reflector shades, nods with a sinister sour grapes vengeful smile and utters Opsss..... I seen this backyard crisis scenario unfold a hundred times

Re: Yet more trouble as gang of rowdy Humming birds 'occupy' bird bath when no one's around.
I have always loved hummingbirds, thanks for the video link.

I used to work at a garden center plant nursery. The main retail room had a clear high dome bubble ceiling with there rollup garage type entrance doors. 3-4 hummingbirds would fly in everyday and become confused about not being able to fly out the bubble ceiling. They would quickly use up their energy and fall to the shelves or floor. The store had hummingbird food so I would buy a bag and keep some mixed up.

I can't tell you how many I nursed back from the edge to release them outside the dome of death.
I loved that job.
Poor birds, wish they would have designed a better ceiling/building.
