Big Brother Nanny State tells Americans to set their thermostat at 82 degrees while sleeping | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76538212 United States 08/20/2019 11:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It has to run quite a few cycles through the night to keep my air filtered properly. That said, I live in Texas. It gets hot here. I keep my AC set at 74 for night time and 76 during the day. I already can't sleep under anything even set at 74! I usually sleep in a long night shirt and nothing covering me. Government is crazy! If people want to have cold air and are willing to pay the bill every month it's their business! |

They say the flash is 20 times brighter than the noonday sun. I'm over a hundred miles away in the mountains, but I'm sure we'll see the flashes, and hear the thunderous BOOMS. Every cloud has a SILVER LINING. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37264018 The bull shish has been coming down from D.C. for decades. A year later Ronald Reagan was named President on election night at 7 pm eastern time in a huge landslide defeating the one term impotent Jimmy Carter. Americans recognize bs, hopefully they haven’t lost that quality. I remember that all too well, and it's what got Carter tossed out of office. People got sick of waiting in line for hours to get gas and constantly being nagged about their energy usage. (The humiliating Iran hostage crisis and double-digit inflation did not help him either.) There was a limit to what people would tolerate back then. Honestly, I'm amazed that these days people are tolerating mile-long tent cities, piles of rat-infested garbage, and feces and needles in the streets. How could anyone possibly accept living conditions like that? I currently live in a third-world country, and that would never be tolerated here. I really don't understand how this could be happening in the USA. We've been lectured about tolerance for so long now, we'll pretty much tolerate anything just not to be hassled about it. They'll be able to remotely set and control the temperature in homes across the country. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73234986 Hell, I hope they do it. We all know it's our comforts that keep us from doing anything about the mess our country has become. I can't think of anything that will get fat, lazy Americans off our collective asses quicker than having the government make it uncomfortable to sit on the couch. They didn't mention it because it's summer, but they don't want you keeping it "80 degrees year-round." That's only for summer. They want it 50 in your house in the winter. It's about energy consumption, not temperature. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. |

Winter thermostat is daytime 60 degrees & 55 degrees at night. To reach these temperatures in the winter, lower your thermostat slowly otherwise everyone will complain. Do it slowly & it is rather not noticeable. |
