That’s so sad. It hurts my heart in the same place as the hurt from The Chesapeake Bay. The immensity of the loss is incomprehensible.

I was allowed to experience the pain of the Chesapeake in a dream. I was dancing the pain of her broken heart as tears streamed down my face. I say “her,” bc it was clearly a maternal heart, pierced by the betrayal of her children. There was a strong sense of bewilderment. Like a panicked disbelief that this could be happening to her, but especially coming from her own children to whom she had given everything ... the pain was almost too much to bear. I woke up with the same tears streaming down my cheeks as were present in my dream and my heart was marked.

I have not had that same mystical experience with the Amazon, but I imagine it is very close to that of the Chesapeake. Except, for some reason, I get more of a masculine vibe from the Amazon.

They have a spirit. They can feel themselves dying. But it is the fact that it is us doing it that hurts them the most. Their hearts are breaking.

one good thing is now this section of rainforest, once all the trees, animals and plants have been burned into mineral salts (ash), WILL THRIVE BETTER THAN BEFORE, allowing certain animals, plants and insects which were once unable to thrive in a crowded environment, to finally get the space the future forest needs them to have.

The fire is set at the pastures around the forest. It's a common procedure in order to renovate the grass for the next season.

I'm really surprised we have lasted this long, since the industrial revolution, and the progress of science. Tropical soils are notoriously thin and poor in nutrients. In some parts of the Amazon River Basin, white, sandy soils are found, and once the plants are burned, they don't come back, so don't expect the rain forest to recover in your life time or even civilizations.
