The word fetish is used, but what if in reality we have gone back to the times when, since you can't afford health care or don't trust health care... you turn to a regular person to do your operations etc.

Two ER physicians insisted to me that I should wish to be castrated. I did t think so. Several nurses seemed to think it was a natural thing to desire. They were all very enthusiastic about it. They withheld information about the ethically correct treatment. That’s how bad they wanted to castrate someone. I don’t even want to think that from the looks of them they might be removing each other’s testicles just for something to do.
