Any Corn Dog Makers Out There?
OK I only buy food when it's on sale.

Now they have corn dogs on sale but they are always sold out.

I decided to make them myself since I'm really hankering for one now.

Any GLP advice?

I did make a break though on my own.

Here is a goof-proof recipe where she guides you through the process so the corn bread adheres to the frank. I would use Ball Park hot dogs or similar.

A lot of hog dogs are full of cereal filler.

You do NOT have to have a deep fryer.

Re: Any Corn Dog Makers Out There?
Beginner cooks fail to use corn starch in pie or in onion ring batter or breading porkchops. So what happens is that thickening and alternative meal then blends with the wheat flour to alter the batter so adheres. It really makes a huge difference. You pie won't gel very well without cornstarch although some fruits have their own natural pectin (like apples) so some pies need more corn starch than others. Don't serve a "runny" pie.

A corn dog has to be a little sweet or it won't taste right. It won't have that same carnival taste without it. You might make lemon shakeups at the same time for the kiddos.

Or an elephant ear.

Oil is expensive so you don't want to waste it. So make fried pies for breakfast.

These are welcome treats when camping.

That is a good vid. On my first few attempts the batter on the outside of the dog just wasn't thick enough so after about one minute of cooking I battered them again.

Dang, better than store bought.

I just made Corn Brats.

I'll never have to buy them from a store again.

Trow some meat in there and that is a scotch egg. Very doable but is it worth it to fire up a deep fryer and waste all of that oil?

Just imagine corn butter.

First you stick a stick into a stick of butter...then freeze it to 20 below zero.

Then dunk it in the corn batter & deep fry that sucker 5a

Re: Any Corn Dog Makers Out There?
When making bratwurst, I pour a beer in the skillet and boil 'em in that until it almost dries, then the oils release and they fry in their skins. They are very tasty with sweet vidalias and a side of German red cabbage.

The fennel in Italian sausages makes them better, I think.

That boil then pan fry method ensures they are moist and tender and properly cooked.

It's sad to see beer used that way but if the taste makes up for it and there is still a six pack in the fridge then life is good.

It's worth sacrificing one beer and it's incorporated in the brat. Haven't you ever heard of "beer brawts"?

Yes I have but the alcohol burns off in the cooking.

Poor poor alcohol. To be created and never kill off a single brain cell like it was meant to.
