So what happens is that thickening and alternative meal then blends with the wheat flour to alter the batter so adheres. It really makes a huge difference. You pie won't gel very well without cornstarch although some fruits have their own natural pectin (like apples) so some pies need more corn starch than others. Don't serve a "runny" pie. A corn dog has to be a little sweet or it won't taste right. It won't have that same carnival taste without it. You might make lemon shakeups at the same time for the kiddos. Or an elephant ear. |

I would use Ball Park hot dogs or similar. Quoting: WhyKnot A lot of hog dogs are full of cereal filler. You do NOT have to have a deep fryer. That is a good vid. On my first few attempts the batter on the outside of the dog just wasn't thick enough so after about one minute of cooking I battered them again. Dang, better than store bought. I just made Corn Brats. I'll never have to buy them from a store again. |

They are very tasty with sweet vidalias and a side of German red cabbage. The fennel in Italian sausages makes them better, I think. That boil then pan fry method ensures they are moist and tender and properly cooked. |
