love is not a feeling it's something you do whether you like it or not.

I have never believed in love period, other than the kind of Love a mother feels for her child. Love between a man and a women is so fluid, changing constantly. As someone else said lust. I met someone 6 months ago, I can honestly say it felt like love at first sight. So close. He feels the same. Nothing to do with lust we have never been intimate. We live in different countries but just can’t shake one another off. The universe hates me. Cruel joke on me.

Absolutely! She didn't though and it took some real effort but 18 years later we're still together.

to find my Boss.

Agreed it doesn't have to be lust. At 14 I didn't even know what that word meant. I was still a virgin at that age. It was more innocent for me. I'd never paid much attention to boys at that age. So now were both in our 50s. Haven't seen him for over a decade.

Hang in there. Tough Love exists. In all of us.

When I saw my wife, I knew immediately that I was going to get married to her. It wasn't lust, I didn't fall "in love" with her. I just knew.

Yes. Its an egoless love though, and a lot of people convince themselves they are in love at first sight but its just infatuation and attachment. I never experienced the real thing it until getting older. You will never feel that longing lost feeling with that person. You just feel at home when you think of them and there is no real "need" the same way.

Yes - and for 41.5 years after that - til his passing. Now learning an epic love lasts beyond the physical life and remains almost as tangible in spirit - like a weightless, warm fuzzy blanket.

Infatuation at first sight is common - and can blossom into love or not. Most often, it's a passing thing.

Actual love takes a while longer and requires a lot more tolerance.

That said, I realized almost immediately that my husband was the man I was going to marry, but it was more like bemusement than infatuation because he really wasn't my type at all. But we're still going strong after 30 years, so I guess there's something, some kind of "radar" that starts a buzz.
