Would you buy sausage from an old farmer with a mangled hand?
I'm talking a portly gentleman at the town farmer's market with only two fingers left in a permanent horned salute. I didn't really think about it at the time when I was getting those sausages but it kind of makes me ill to wonder what happened to him now.

I’m almost sure that they aren’t in the sausage you bought. But I guess it’s possible if that’s what you are thinking. You could ask...

You don't need to ask, if they are crunchy in the middle then you will know

Of course. Parents tried to take me to a dentist that had gotten a bit of fame by being one of the oldest & longest practicing dentists around. He was shaking when he was checking my cavity-could feel the pic vibrating in my mouth (manual pic, his hands were THAT shaky.) Tried to tell them gently I wasn't comfortable but they made me spell it out. Felt bad embarrassing him but NO WAY was he coming near MY mouth with a drill!

Just thinking of the maker having a sausage-making accident is kind of weird though. What if it is the same equipment and there are still some hand molecules on it hahahaha!

Anyone have any other sardonic real life vignettes?

Good one. I knew a 90 year old obstetrician gynecologist with dementia still practicing who would give patients any drug prescription they asked for. The wife turned it into a pill mill and got busted a while after the doctor died. She had carried on with new doctors giving out scripts for cash. The DEA did something good and shut it down.

I'd not trust an old butcher that still had all of their digits.

I guess it shows commitment! It's like "Well, I lost 'em for this so I'm pretty damn well wedded to it for better or worse..."

Are you a fret wiz? I think I need some new ones for the 20th Anniversary Custom I own. The 'Fretless Wonder'? I actually wore them down evenly over years of playing to even more fretless.

I'd be more concerned about what's IN the sausages....beaks, wings, lips, anusii, eyeballs....

You know I bet eyeballs are probably good for you. I think it is a delicacy in some places to eat it whole. I would have to be pretty damn hungry to want to eat some eyes. Fish eyes maybe. I knew a grocery store seafood manager who supplied a child with a rare disease a special fish eye soup for many years. Very nice thing to do.

Recently mangled - nope.
Old and healed - I assume the dude knows a thing or two about sausages, so yes.

I did buy those breakfast links for a couple of summers and they were good. I wouldn't say ultimate top notch artisan quality but very tasty nonetheless.

Ask which batch of sausage he was making when he lost his fingers...
