Without NASA and globes in classrooms, all maps, especially those prior to the 1500's point to a flat earth.

Since none of you are astronauts, every life experience you've had has been on a flat earth as well and you've NEVER seen a curve either, especially by plane.

The ocean is level, the ground is level, buildings and mountains don't disappear at a distance, but more importantly than simply disappearing, but they don't alter their angle of declination as the distance increases.

So for example, I can see NYC from a good distance out at the NJ shore and I'm standing at see level. At 20 miles away and accounting for the proposed circumference of the Earth, that curve is negligible, non-existant.

That is, some one in the Empire State Building might only be .30% of 1 degree of the Earth's circumference at 24,901 miles.

So any alignment, relative to the horizon or level ground would be next to impossible to see, especially with the naked eye. See into that window, from the shore, or vice versa, would be impossible to detect, not because of the optics required, but be viewing it would be in a direct line of sight and therefore again, no curvature, anywhere would be able to be discerned or registered.

You walk flat, drive flat, sleep flat, swim flat and although you may ascend, descend and move across various hills and slopes, chances are, you've never walked or drove on a curve (and a banking inclined racetrack or similar is not the same thing).

No kidding. On the original thread, I predicted this poll would go 98% round.

Interesting, seems to be hovering around 55% round, which is significantly less than Deplorable Revbo tm predicted but also more than I would have predicted even after discounting a bunch of troll votes or people who rather have seen spherical than round. This would indicate a smaller but dedicated flat earth faction is present on this forum, but it was unable to expand and take over it.

I'm struggling to comprehend how you came to the conclusion I was 'moaning'

many of the others probably voted for egg shaped etc. so pretty much "not flat"

In astronomy class, the correct term for the earth's shape was a spheroid, like the rest of the planets.

Slightly wider at the equator than at the poles.

People are weird. Doughnut, Egg Shaped, Oval ect... it is all thew same. Round is Round.

But technically, it is kinda of egg shaped (STILL ROUND!). As the Earth spins, the momentum causes it to be more Egg shaped.

Not like an actual egg mind you for those with limited intelligence, who take words literally and think I mean like an actual egg.

I covered that in the OP. "Round" is used synonymously for "globe" or "oblate spheroid."

It's round from gravity. As one element attracts another it's doubled the gravity. Soon there's 3 elements then 5 and do on. There's a video of astronauts opening a bag of rice. Within minutes, all the pieces are together and form a sphere. It's the most efficient way of stacking a group of anything together. The pressure of gravity pushing in from all sides forces this shape. Cold or hot has nothing to do with it. Gravity is space/time that's been displaced by any object.
