Added to this, if a location bans legal CHL carry (like 30.06 & 30.07 signs in Texas), victims of gun violence in the location should be allowed to sue for denying the constitutional (and God given) right to self defense. That would stop killers from searching out gun free zones.

When I lived in TX (all my life until last year), you could legally carry a long gun in the vehicle without license. My high school had pickups with gun racks in the rear window with rifles and shotguns. I can't imagine that isn't especially true in Midland-Odessa.
