Pat Travers Band -Racing the Storm
PAT TRAVERS:Hey there. So I'm at home in Central Florida and a category 4 hurricane is pounding its way toward us. The impending storm is causing us all kinds of headaches with air travel plans we had for this weekend. Exactly two years ago we had a similar situation with another storm barreling across the state and right up I-4 near where I live. I had a show up in Minnesota the day before the weather was supposed to get really bad. My original flight home to Orlando was canceled when they closed the airport. So I managed to get a flight to Atlanta and I thought if I could rent a car there I could probably make it home before the storm got too bad. I'm driving south just about alone on the interstate, with the exception of the occasional convoy of emergency power trucks and tree clearing crews, and the storm is heading north. Very unusual situation. Anyway my plan was to get gas in Savanah GA and have enough to make it home. Unfortunately by the time I got to Savanah and I-95 South the state of Georgia had been declared a disaster area and every gas pump on I-95 from Savanah GA to Key West FL had been taped up and turned off. I had enough gas to get south of Jacksonville and there I pulled into a Waffle House parking lot and settled in to ride out the storm. It wasn't too bad, the Waffle House building broke the wind and I had enough fuel to start the car and get some a/c every now and then. The next morning when the storm had passed and I was wondering where close by there might be a station with power and gas. I couldn't travel very far without running out so I called MT and asked her to post a plea on our FaceBook page and see if maybe someone local could spare a few gallons of gas. Within an hour a wonderful person responded with five gallons of gas and I was back on the slab! That gentleman's gesture made us feel good In so many ways. Anyway as I was sitting in the car overnight I was thinking about a new piece of music that the band and I had been working on but still had no title. Then it occurred to me "Racing The Storm"!. It described my adventure perfectly and was also a great title for a very cool new tune. We got a fantastic response when we posted this video a week or so ago so we've gone ahead and made "Racing The Storm" available as a download (and ringtone!) as of September 1st. I would consider It would be an honor if you could really show your support for the PTB and actually download the tune and click on the link for the YouTube video.
