It is not doing auto design any major favors. We inherited an olive green Corvair from my Grandfather when he passed. That was an awesome little car. You shifted the auto trans with a lever on the dash, not much different than the heater control. Motor in the back. Great car.  For those who believe, no proof is necessary. Great example. The Corvair was actually a great car and no less safe than other cars. Granted I wouldn't have one in an icy climate. But people pay big bucks for the Porsche 911 that's less stable than the Corvair. Corvair beats the Tesla hands down. It was a car that made history, in a good way and in a controversial way. Ralph Nader saw it differently, of course. The Tesla is much more like the Ford Pinto. Yes, I agree a Pinto with an exploding gas tank... No, the Pinto was bad, and just a general cheap piece of crap anyway. The Corvair was good and was a pretty interesting car. The Tesla is interesting. But it has explosion and fire problems.
