The point you are missing is that China has built its entire economy off stolen US intellectual property and advantages when we trade. They have had a horribly unfair advantage over us on trade for years. If we hadn’t pushed back that would have continued until they surpass us in every way. Trump wants trade policy that is reciprocal and fair to all parties. Not only is there nothing wrong with that, it is the best long-term course for us and for the world. The best analogy I have heard about this so far was from Buck Sexton. He said that the last 30 years of US/China trade is like having a guy come up to you and slap you across the face every day for 30 years, and then one day you slap him back and he says “Hey, what are you trying to do, start a fight?” I just checked. The price of the Chinese made frying pan I've been eyeing at wallyworld is still $39.88. Been the same price for 2 years. The chinese made T-shirts I buy from there are $5 and $7.88. The same price as when I moved to Minnesota 5 years ago. Besides I don't give a flying fuck if they did go up. I paid $2400 less in income taxes so if I did pay $2000 more in tariffs I'm still coming out ahead. Lol losers. |
