Is it just me....or is life utterly pointless and stupid? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79391326 Switzerland 06/18/2022 10:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I remember as a kid wanting toys. Seemed like everything revolved around getting GI Joe's so I could spend hours in my imagination creating stories and fighting battles with them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76892169 School never made any sense. Was a bright kid, really high aptitude, I could do the work. But it got old and boring quickly. As an adult, I looked around for a meaningful career and just found myself bored and apathetic to whatever I did after awhile. I chased women in my 20's and did the "get laid" thing. It got old. Now at 40, I find myself doing the same things over and over. Get up, work, try to find something to do. Seen thousands of movies, read thousands of books. Dated beautiful women. Not rich, but have wealthy friends, and they all are searching for anything to give their life meaning and purpose. A few of them have everything a person could ever want. They go out and cheat on their wives and are miserable inside at the complete lack of meaning. I drove through a graveyard today and looked around at all the stones, all the dead...they all thought their lives were so important and meaningful, they all ended up in the same place. I get up. I work. I clean the house. I do the dishes. I watch a movie. I eat what I want. I do it all again. And again. And again. It feels totally pointless and meaningless. I do believe in God. I have talked with people about my faith. But nothing ever breaks the monotony. Does anyone just feel absolutely astonished at the pointlessness of it all? YES |

The qqpleasure I get is in helping amimals I rescue ...cuz humans sure don't appreciate shit. I live away from society on 55 acres. My garden gives me happiness too...we were never meant to work eight hours a day and collect meaningless items just to say we have them...we were meant to interact with nature and live a wholesome life close to plants and animals and mother nature. I think maybe this is why so many are burned out now but I'm not positive. I enjoy the simple things like watching butterflies and growing food, flowers and herbs. Even so , I still wonder what the point of it all is. Quoting: Halfbreedgal 83692304 Just... Nothing shall be so certain as to permit confusion. |

Yeah, will post, if I find it. Care so much you effin burn out is a decent goal. That's a good description. I described it like an 'oversaturated washcloth'. Any extra water just pours off. Apathy is really awful. If anyone feels that way for longer than a few days..reach out to someone. It's often a relief just know what it is called. That there is a word for it. I'm 58, playing music out again after a 25+ year hiatus and loving it. I've made millions...and lived in my car in the last ten years. I know I will have to work every day until I die to keep a roof over my head...that's ok too...keeps me sharp. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76699577 I keep smiling and knowing this is a short trip and I am the one who decides how it goes at the end of the day. Honestly nothing you wrote makes sense. It just sounds like you made some really bad decisions financially and enjoy being trapped in a state of victimhood. Also how do you have to work til you die to live in a car? You had millions? You abandoned music for 25 year? Dude, make it make sense. |

It's impossible to stay sane if you think too hard about it. So most people don't, they stay content in their ignorance and petty routines. |

In other words you are standing to close and need to step back and take a look at the bigger picture. You always have to start with yourselves. Example: John Doe 01.01.1991 What would John be skilled at doing? Work: Department of Energy, Explosive Ordenance Disposal, Technology (artificial intelligence), American Football What interests John? Football, Blondes, Action Movies, Sci-fi There are more examples however everyone should try it with their own names and Birthday's. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 80429525 United States 06/20/2022 12:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have had times where I felt that way. I use the mantra from a man who wrote books on spirituality etc. He said: Life is meaningless unless you add meaning to it. I guess then life is pointless unless you add a point to it. Life is what you make it or maybe not so much. I had read that there are people who are so poor and who do not even know what it's like to have anything, that they are content. This is not the poor people who starve to death obviously. I think the way we are treated as babies and toddlers messes people up so much. I have also read some studies on doctors spending time with different tribes and natives in different parts of the world, I think it's like free work, or something doctors do sometimes and spend time helping etc. This one woman wrote a book of her findings and she mentioned that the Natives don't have any of the fears we in modern civilization do because the parent is not all over the child projecting a bunch of fears and control mechanisms. The child grows free and feels secure and handles things well. They have a community and grow well adjusted. The kids grow up secure without drama and content. Maybe we are doing something wrong from the beginning by the way we have moms give birth and then the material bs we grow up with. anyway, I'm rambling thoughts. Who knows. |
