I was assigned to the second shift but had to work a night shift to cover for someone who was sick. I was chosen because the 11th & 12th were my days off so I could recover better.

I was in the patrol room waiting for the CID Sarge to come in so I could discuss a case with him. He walked in and I said, "Hey Sarge" and he said, "No, come with me." We went into his office to watch reporting on the plane that hit the tower.

World changed forever when the second plane hit.

Days off cancelled, vacation cancelled switched to twelve hour shifts. I didn't get sleep for nearly 60 hours but was out with an MP5.

Started that day telling my family goodbye every morning like I'd never see them again.
