The second star (binary twin) does not have to get too close to start draining our sun of energy. In fact, they believe it will look no bigger than a star that is moving at a very fast rate. The sun will be darkened (a reddish glow) temporarily on the approach and the exit of the binary twin. Planetary orbits and rotations will be thrown off. If Jupiter is affected then we could definitely see a marked increase in incoming space debris, since Jupiter is what protects us from it now. Earthquakes, volcanoes, floods from higher seas and also ground water would be an effect. Basically anything you would expect if the rotation of the earth is affected.

A side note about Jupiter is that they have found something is perturbing it now and causing gas streams to be ejected from it.

OK exploded planet hypotheses. 5th planet explodes ,mabey due to binary. Very high energy explosion , evidence all over the dollar system.
The majority of the objects may be in solar orbit .Asteroids. Ejected ( interstellar) or if binary in a some sort of barycentric orbit of possible thousands of years.

When a planet explodes there is a high energy release like lightning. And parts of it would literally melt and go into plasma life in an electric current!

I have never been able to even imagine any creature able to master the intricacies of intergalactic space travel sitting down to a meal of fat, greasy, humans who reek of body odor, and are full of warm greasy and absolutely putrid shit. We on the whole are tough and stringy with tendons and ligaments.

Most of us are full of worms, have sundry parasites crawling through our bodies and are covered with various warts, moles, skin cancers, and most nooks and fanny crannies are riddled with molds and fungus infections. Let's not forget the endless infestations we have from head lice to pubic lice, Scabies mites, to maggots feeding off open lesions.

There has to be a better excuse to visit earth. It makes no sense to navigate billions of miles of space simply to probe possibly the filthiest and smelliest butt holes in the universe.

Maybe they feel obligated to just put us out of our misery. If that is the case, what is taking them so long?

Want to go for a ride? It looks an awful lot like the crashed ship they found on the mission to the moon that didn't happen.
