Epic Charter school is an online school that pays its teachers significantly more for work and allows them to stay at home. There’s been a huge challenge to it because the state pays a per student fee to any school where a child is enrolled. So Tulsa schools get roughly $8000 per kid each year to operate off of in addition to property taxes while Epic gets the same per student. Guess what. The Epic founder supposedly is making millions in dividends each year. No brick and mortar, no superintendent for each little village, no principal for each school. Epic has cut the fat out of the system and has a surplus. They are now the 3rd largest school system in Oklahoma. Guess who is trying to get them shut down.
