what was summer of 1989 like ?

from 1982-1992 it is a little hazy .

Big bush was still in, the early 80s was when the full bush was really prominent. Worked at my friends dads go-cart track and we got beaver shots daily.

Was too young to worry about crap.

Life was good. We had everything to look forward to.

I was working on the EO sensor system for the Navy A12, later cancelled by Dick Chaney at Westinghouse ESG in Baltimore next to BWI, on TDY from Orlando FL. I was also waiting for my soul mate to move here to be with me from Germany. It was an incredible year for me. After 30 years it is hard to believe that my relationship with her grows stronger every year.

Cant remember.

Spent the majority of that year smashed on something.

Oh it was wonderful. Denim skirts and blue eye shadow... Nickelodeon was good and MTV played MUSIC... hair bands galore... fireworks at the neighborhood pool every Saturday...

Saturday morning cartoons were still a thing.
We got to ride in the back of the truck.
Lip Smackers lip gloss.
Bombpops

mostly white people, , so it was safe just about anywhere you went, it was great.

I was just thinking the same thing today.
When anyone passed away back in the 80's people dressed up and paid their respects.

Everyone was sensitive to the family who lost a loved one.

Today it seems that death doesn't mean much to a lot of people.

People have grown cold.

There were no cell phones back then, and most people didn't even own a computer. Everything people did involved other people. Today people don't make bonds. And those who once held bonds with others, would back stab them in an instant. Nobody really give two poops about anyone any more. Very few stay close.

Society is lost.

The peak of Industrial and Goth. Vague rumors of an actual David Lynch tv show in the works for ABC. And "The Abyss" was the big blockbuster from James Cameron.

It was the best of times.

Oh, and I was 24. I sure do miss not being an old fuck.

people were nicer.

A lot nicer.

People weren't pussies like they are now.

Clubbing on ladies nickel nights, which was Thursdays at UCONN.

Not a care in the world.

I feel badly for people who don't know what life was like prior to 2001.

Life was great. Low(er) stress, positive outlooks everywhere. As young adults, we enjoyed life.

Guy was way ahead of His time.

I had a McDonald's card and regularly won free drinks and sandwiches at the drive-through.

I also used to roll with a double barrel 12 gauge sawed off shotgun and a small caliber handgun - both in my college duffel bag.

And I smelled like Benson & Hedges Light.

It was great.

Bashing poofs for sport was still in vogue.

Those are all from 89 look it the hell up.

It was for me. I don't know about you. That's when all those badass albums came out and a lot more. When would you say? 91 or 92 or some shit? That was the commercial exploitation period but sorry to inform you Grunge is from the 80's.

It was better in so many ways.

People weren't consumed with politics and race, like they are today.

People were way more sociable.

It was easier to get a job and you could actually make enough money to live a decent lifestyle by working a regular job.

The advent of internet and all the things that came with it kinda ruined everything.

I spent that summer doing grunt construction work between college semesters... so I kinda don’t remember specifics :-)

the 90s. the 90s were great. grunge washed the 80s away and thank god that happened
