The full national security council will meet Friday to discuss options on #Iran, according to a senior administration official. This comes the morning Sec of State Mike Pompeo returned from the region. He's expected to formally update the group on what he heard from the Saudis.

I really don't want any more US lives going to the muzzlands.

Pentagon to Present Military Options to Pres. Trump on Iran

The Pentagon will present military options to President Trump Friday as he contemplates how to respond to Iran after an attack on Saudi oil production over the weekend.

When the US is being attacked we have no choice.

The war drums beating in Washington, Riyadh, and Tel Aviv when it comes to Iran have not been this loud since the lead-up to the war in Iraq in 2003.

“An act of war,” Trump’s secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, proclaimed upon arriving in Saudi Arabia on a ‘working visit,’ a visit that will be largely if not solely taken up with discussions over what form the response to the missile strike against key Saudi oil installations on September 14 should take.

Pompeo’s bombastic pronouncement followed the trend set by his boss in the immediate aftermath of the attack. In one of his by now customary sabre-rattling tweets that do much to bring the English language into disrepute, Trump announced:

“Saudi Arabia oil supply was attacked. There is reason to believe that we know the culprit, are locked and loaded depending on verification, but are waiting to hear from the Kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack, and under what terms we would proceed!”

Tehran has been implicated but denies any involvement or responsibility for the attack, while the Houthi rebels, engaged against the Saudis and their allies in a protracted conflict in Yemen, have claimed responsibility. Said Houthis, it should be pointed out, have carried out drone and missile strikes against strategic targets in the kingdom before, so it is conceivable that their claim to have been responsible for this attack carries with it the ring of truth.

Late to the party.

Proof isn't public knowledge. We have to go with what we understand in the current frame.

Don't wait for someone to tell you to prepare. Prepare.

Trump: “OK” With A War Against Iran Now

Last month President Trump briefly described what in his vision war with Iran would look like if launched: it ”wouldn’t last very long” and “we’re not talking boots on the ground,” he said in an interview. ”I hope we don’t but we’re in a very strong position if something should happen,” he added as cited in Reuters. As we previously suggested, if things escalate to direct US military assault on Iran, it would likely (at least initially) take place in the manner of a “one and done” major fireworks display — the idea being to hit hard, then declare a hasty ”victory” and get out fast… at least in Trump’s ideal version of how things would play out, similar to the prior two strikes on Syria.

The Houthis are an Iranian proxy and will say whatever they are told to say. The investigation is not complete.

The angle of the impact points show that the attack came from the north. Up north is Iran not the Houthis.
