A good compendium of guitar pedals from 1974 to '95.
Just came across this site that is very detailed about different pedals form that time.
Enjoyable read!

"On this site you will find reference material regarding guitar effects pedals and floor units mainly made in the golden pedal era from 1974 - 1995. The focus of our collection is clearly set on Ibanez pedals, other brands will appear just subject to our particular fads.
Why Ibanez? With their reputation of excellent sound and durability, the Ibanez stompboxes of this era have become legendary and some even extremly sought after among musicians and collectors around the world. Above all other overdrive effects the famous Tube Screamer is the weapons of choice for many guitar heroes and countless followers.
The site is under constant development, new content will be added whenever discovered. Information not yet available on the product pages is highly appreciated. Please respect copyrights and don't use our photos without prior permission: info[at]tonehome[dot]de

Kitty Poster uses a vintage style Tube Reverb unit....complete with NOS / new old stock tubes .

Yea.

Tube effects / analog effects have an unbeatable characteristic warmth & fullness.

*Glances.....right.....to the st**l guitar, and thinks about playing soon =^_^=......*.

Yeah i've been playing for quite a few years.

Not as much as I used to... but i drag out the old stringed contraption every once in a while.

Used to play 90 minutes a day no matter what.

Now i play a minute every 90 days haha

Very cool, and 90 minutes a day must have made for some fine guitar playing!
Curious, what happened that made you loose interest in playing?

I bought my first guitar about 2 months ago, took a while for it to come to the store, just got an email late last week saying it came in finally.
So looking forward to going this Friday and picking it up!

Here is what I bought myself to learn and start playing on.

Well back in those days I was playing in bands. But the big problem was finding people who were serious enough to dedicate the time to takes to maintain a band. So folks would come and go... and it complicated that I only play in metal bands... the heavier the better. I live in Eastern Kentucky... so finding people who even listen to that sorta thing is hard... much less folks who play that style.

For a bit there I was driving 2 hours one way to play in a group. But that didn't work out. They graduated college and dispersed all over the US.

Then some hard times hit and I sold my amp. Haven't bought one back since my practice amp works for my needs.

I still love it... but with work and what not hard to find the time.

That's a nice guitar you're getting. I dig Ibanez. I have a 7 string electric that I love by them. It's a low end model worth about 200 bucks or so... but plays like one worth a grand.

I never could play an acoustic worth a damn though. My fingers are small and playing chords was always hard. I have an Indiana acoustic. Again cheap model... but serves my purposes when I want to make a racket with one.

I do have some higher end guitars. For a while there I was buying em up. I luckily broke the addiction of buying guitars. Haha

That's the problem you will face if you get into it. You can't stop with just one.

Cool! I just started following some youtube instructors because I took our Yamaha out of the closet and the thing is still like new because no one played it and now it's been left to me. I took lessons as a kid decades ago on a small classical guitar (which I still have) and lost interest. But I did learn reading music and such. Have to get my fingers used to playing all over again. It will hurt for a while.

Thanks for explaining, too bad other band members couldn't stick to it, but hey, you tried, and life changes.
Funny you say that about acoustic and small fingers, I borrowed an acoustic a short while back from a friend till my guitar came in, and I have been finding it difficult to play chords without touching the other strings because of my big hands.

I Ibanez does make some sweet guitars, that's for sure.
Cool you got into collecting high end guitars, I can't even play yet and I have for the past couple of months reading and looking at amazing guitars, with a dream of buying them in the future, lol.
I'm sure I will be looking into getting some pedals when I can play the acoustic well enough to to buy an electric guitar.

Thanks for your replies, nice conversing with you.
cheers

Oh wanted to let you know about this pedal:

[link to reverb.com (secure)]

Link is just for reference... can probably find a better deal elsewhere. I just grabbed the first link I saw.

I have this pedal... it's great for practicing... hell you could even do gigs with it.

But you can connect it to your computer and customize the sounds and make ur own presets. It's a breeze. You can do that without a computer... but it's easier with one.

You can also record to a computer with it.

It has a tuner...

let's you explore sounds and what not so you know what fits your style and likes.

Plus it's fairly cheap. If you get into buying a lot of individual pedals that runs into money.

There are perks to individual pedals... but for practice this is a good deal.

You can also plug headphones into it and it has an auxiliary port for music or what not..

So you can quietly jam out and bypass the need for an amp.

Right on, thanks for the no and link, will check it out for sure.
Yeah, I can see pedals starting to add $$ when you get different ones.

I bought this amp for myself a few months back, Orange 20 RT,
[link to orangeamps.com (secure)]
You can also plug in headphones, and it has some circuitry that makes it sound like you are playing without headphones.
