3 Popes in 1978.

The greatest, the first John Paul lasted only one month.

Was he murdered?

1978 was a great year for me.

One of the best years ever, concerts, girls, working a fun job, money for stereos and food and clothes...

‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’ by Springsteen came out and with it the best live anthem by Bruce in “Badlands”;

18 years old, in my prime.
Disco, coke, swinger parties. It was all shallow and fake, but I still loved it.

I'm older and wiser now, but don't regret the folly of my youth.

Re: What was 1978 like?
Jimmy carter...americans held hostage in Iran...gas prices quadrupled...Kiss put out their "Double Platinum" album.

Edit: The liberal hate of America was exactly the same as it is today! Ronald Reagan single-handedly changed all that by talking up America and how great it was.

Re: What was 1978 like?
Good times, good music, good food, good service. All at reasonable prices.

No computers, no cell phones, no gender identity crises, no virtue signalling, no push for more cultural enrichment.

Less blatant corruption, less fat people, less stupidity in general.

It wasn’t perfect, but it was a whole helluva lot better than what 2019 is like.
