Empirical thinking. That's when people only believe what they see with their own eyes. They trust no one to tell them anything other than what their daddy told them or they know from personal experience.

It's a long tradition of child rearing in the South to teach that kind of thought pattern, which is practical living standards. Unfortunately these people won't make it in the bigger world as they lack the basics to think on a higher level.

Many people hide in empirical lifestyle because it's safe and the longevity is more likely. However, creativity, comprehension, theoretical, conjectural, and hypothetical thought process is hard to grasp.
