I take 1/2 tablet Kirkland's Sleep-Aid (basically Unisom) and 1 kava tablet (whatever I have on hand) along with a sublingual melatonin (5 or 10mg). I listen to audiobooks or relaxation tapes. I sleep with earplugs and an eyemask, extra pillows. Started recently getting up at 5/6 going to sleep at 9/10 and things are going even better. For nothing is secret that will not be revealed… |

There are a few strains of kratom that are awesome for sleep...is it illegal down there? I dunno my friends in the UK are afraid to order it because it technically is illegal there...I can buy it online here cheap and I remember some sort of kerfuffle going on with it in the States. But it is a fine insomnia remedy. It's for allergies and clearing up your sinus I guess, but it makes for a very good relaxer. This is what I do... please do what you think is right, and check everything out and read the instructions. Quoting: Joe in JT 75049243 I take the liquid Z Quil. Then I can measure out how much I need. I only take 1/2 the dose. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76984449 United States 09/22/2019 10:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sominex - used it for the first time last night and slept great. Only took one not the full dose of two. Slept from 1 am to almost 9 am. Best sleep in a long time. Had earlier taken the usual magnesium and melatonin but couldn’t fall asleep. That has the same ingredient as Benadryl. |

Forget that horrible lunesta or ambien garbage. It's only a small amount, which I cut in half and also supplement with magnesium and melatonin. Good luck to you OP, there is nothing worse than insomnia. If I had the $$ I would look into acupuncture. |

Awful but better than nothing in a pinch. |

Unless you exercise yourself into exhaustion every day, good sleep is extremely difficult for older folks, esp. women. I get it and exercise is necessary. It is what our bodies are built to do. |

User ID: 72427353 United States 09/23/2019 06:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I’ve been taking trazodone for several years. I’ve had insomnia as long as I can remember. Nothing else worked for me that I’ve tried... not melatonin, NyQuil, well I did used to drink myself to sleep, that worked... but so far trazodone has been my #1. If I ever forget to pick up my prescription and run out, 100% guarantee I’ll lay there all night with my brain wide awake. PS trazodone made my husband groggy in the morning, so it’s different for some. I’ve never had that problem with it. |

User ID: 10309484 United States 09/23/2019 09:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It may sound strange, but have you tried a weighted blanket? My wife wanted to get one, but the ones we saw locally were over $100 for a queen size. She was on a trip back east and found twin-bed sized ones for under $20. She brought two home with her. I had been having trouble sleeping recently, but I have been sleeping under that blanket for a couple of weeks now and it is truly amazing. I get under that thing and I am out within a minute or two and sleep all night instead of lying awake for hours. It produces a soothing and calming effect, but is not overly warm.
