Scripture is not concerned with any other region other than those surrounding the land of Israel. ALL prophecy is related to this region. It is the fallacy of Provincialism to believe that WE are somehow special and significant. It may be hard for us to swallow, but the US is irrelevant to end times prophecy. We are not special. If you use Scripture alone, it clearly identifies Babylon the Great as Jerusalem. The references and prophecies are numerous. You cannot rely on Revelation alone. You need more than one witness. The rest of the Prophets testify that Babylon is Jerusalem. All other interpretations are an example of people reading a few verses and then looking around the world to see what fits. That is not how it works. That would have led people 300 years ago to conclude that it was the British Empire. You cannot approach prophecy this way.
