This was something we were introduced to on the BEZERK thread a few years back, when Aco' was alive.

The organism, AUg1 went through various metamorphoses and one state created gold, or a mono form of it, which it used to unzip simple creatures DNA and reprogram, divide and grow.

The synthetic life forms used in the CoRexit were the primary targets. We never worked out if this was seeded deliberately in the millions of gallons poured into he GoM, so they could connect with it, or it was an oversite.

The 'AU' is symbolic of that gold state.
