I watched this movie for the first and last time with my Daddy while he was still lucid while he lay dying at his new home with his new wife who did not care for me. I wanted to be drunk so bad. I waited until Daddy was cremated and put in an urn and I got back home to my hovel. I fed him ice chips, held his hand, told him how much I loved him, and slept on the floor next to the couch he was dying in.

Too many scenes hit a chord. Not my Daddy’s or my Momma’s fault. Sometimes the evil that extended family does goes unacknowledged and hidden for decades. Sometimes no one wants to admit to weakness no matter how old or young you are, sure in your heart that nobody will believe you anyway.

Sometimes there are not enough rocks.

This is the very first album I ever had. I was in second grade at the time, got a brand new record player and receiver because my IQ tested off the charts.
What did that get me? Drunk, resentful, arrogant and maladjusted. Never applied myself for fear of failure. Many others do well with what they have to work with, me: complete lazy asshole.
