I don't have a problem with a pipeline, but not where they want to put it. With so many communities in BC totally fucked by closing of mines and forestry jobs, I would totally support moving it out of a residential neighborhood and taking it through towns that desperately need the jobs and economic activity. Instead of using the port of Vancouver, why not develop Prince Rupert, or some abandoned community on the central coast?
The current pipeline ends at Burnaby Mountain, Simon Fraser University is just above it, residential neighborhoods all around it. What most people don't know is that there is a dangerous fault capable of a 7 magnitude in Burrard inlet, on the north side of Burnaby Mountain.
