GLP GUITARISTS~ Guitar(s) gear, awesome family tree prints, brief timeline *visual link* guitar fx pedals
These family tree prints this guy makes are amazing. Here’s one for guitarists: [link to historytrees.com (secure)]

Amazing!

This is slightly cool timeline visual of history of guitar pedals... I still can’t figure out if these cats @ this company are still going or not; hope so.

Evil Twins New Guitar day thread yesterday had me looking at guitars last night.... stumbled upon the info on the rosewood ban of 2017...

CITES stands for Convention of International Trade of Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna.) ... Brazilian rosewood was purported being so extensively used that it was becoming endangered, and substantial harm was being done to woodland ecosystems...so they imposed big time restrictions. I believe some were already in place such as the trees had to fall on their own naturally for use...

I’m slowly and steadily saving up for a Guild Jumbo but last night I stumbled upon a Jumbo Junior on music radar that now has me VERY intrigued...
Westerly Collection Archback Jumbo Junior:

If anyone other GLPrs care to share what they’re playing and or saving up for their dream guitar and or upgrade(s), please share!

What’s your take on the Jumbo Junior?
I play an American Fender Telecaster, Alvarez full body acoustic and a little mini Martin (for camping)... so I was looking at possible Gibson’s (their ES-335 is so beautiful)... and Guilds... I knew that Gibson had been raided at their HQ somewhere back in 2011...side issue I visited their Tennessee HQ in 2008 and it was amazing.
I didn’t realize Gibson, Fender or anyone else cannot ship out any guitars containing Rosewood internationally... I ask about the Jumbo Jr. because my mini Martin already sounds surprisingly even more amazing than I had ever imagined! Has anyone played through a green matamp amp before? I’ve played an old Orange after becoming a Sleep fan back in like 92...
They worth the hype? I remember when used Oranges went cheap! And candy bars were giant and only a nickel! Hehe.

Hmm..Jumbo Jr looks like a better version of the Taylor GS mini, which is about the same as the Martin mini. Guilds ( especially old ones ) are really, really good guitars. The Guild Jumbo is killer. Jumbos are BIG guitars, not one to just have laying around. They’re good for loud strumming to accompany loud singing.
I don’t know if these jrs are made in China or not, but on the surface it looks great for what it’s advertised as, knockaround portable. Now I want one, ha ha.

As for the ban, I haven’t paid much attention. I ain’t selling !

Thank you so much. I truly appreciate your feedback!
They do look wickedly fun! I would expect deep tone. Appreciate the Jumbo 411. I sing loud , as in Johnny Cash/acoustic Clutch loud, so now I’m even more excited! Thanks!

I've been playing 25ish years but in the last 5 years i've grown tired of tube amps. Now I do prefer metal music but I play a bunch of different styles out of necessity. I've owned Marshall, Peavey Vox etc over the years and played countless different rigs but would you believe it, the best sounding amp for me is a cheap randall solidstate head. I just find it super easy to dial in different sounds. Maybe I just like the epic gain sound but the clean sound is great too and perfect for me. I love it.

Most of my guitars are rubbish. In Australia we get ripped off when it comes to music gear.. That and I'm poor! my first electric was a yamaha pacifica and I still gig with it to this day. I was very lucky to score a washburn dimebolt many years ago.. probably my only noteworthy guitar. Someday in my grandpa years i'll settle down and buy a strat.. Will avoid gibson like the plague though.. too expensive, crap quality, broken headstocks, terrible.. I feel for their employees..

I was playing a newly acquired 1961 Thunderstick ( made by Supro ) straight into a ToneKing Skyking last night and life was good. Real good.

On a side note, the Drybell Unit 61 is an exciting new pedal that combines 5 effects into one single size pedal. It’s a buffer, booster, range master, compressor and EQ that makes the notes jump of the neck and things just sound better. Very cool

Thanks for sharing! Although not a huge fan of his music, I do have much respect for Elvis Costello... With the advice from a friend I copied Costello and purchased a little single tube mini Fender Pro Junior 15 watt that seriously sounds amazing. You can mic it up if playing a gig... it’s a VERY simple amp but man it does the job wonderfully! They’ve evidently gone up in price within the last decade...

Sweetwater’s description:

Capable Little Tweed Tone Vehicle
From its briefcase size to its 2-knob control set, the Fender Pro Junior is the picture of gigging simplicity. Its single 10" Jensen speaker, driven by a 15-watt tube quartet, is all the output and tonal diversity many players ever need. Version 4 of this modern classic features modified volume and tone circuits to better retain the punch, sparkle, and dynamics of your touch, even as you drive it hard. And drive this amp does: spinning the Volume knob past two o'clock adds a beautiful hard edge to chords and melodies. Presentationally, the fullness of Fender's most beloved Tweeds is seen here in the Pro Junior IV: the lacquered cabinet, '50s-era grille cloth, and stitched leather handle all hark back to Fender's most sought-after combos of the middle last century.

I want one of those so bad . I have 100w 1974 marshall plexi modded woth two channels extra preamp tube for gain , 50-100 w switch turns off two power tubes , plus a mid boost that dimes the mid potentiometer that I usually set at about 9 o’clock or 3.5 .
The channel switching is killer the mod my Buddy Obeid Khan Dod is incredible .
I also have a 1977 anniversary marshal Fawn tolex 50w 2204 jmp. It’s also incredible .
I have a 1995 crate Vintage club my Buddy Obeid Khan designed . 2/12 combo . Incredible clean channel . I sold a fender hot rod deluxe and an ampeg Gemini 4 I was using for clean tones because the Crste vintage club clean is amazing tone similar to the Tom Kerry lead guitarists tone .

I have a brand New 2020 Khan oak designed by Obeid Khan . It’s the size of a car stereo or Bible and is 18w/9w two channel plexi msrshall gain on the clean channel and the dirty channel is a plexi tone with a overdrive gain .

I also have a crate dxb112 . Crates first digital one 12 combo . Far better than the dx2/12 they redid the algorithms for the smaller amp it’s pretty great .

I have a crate v30 2005 amp my buddy Khan was going to throw away and I fixed several issues with it and got it going he fixed the intermittent issue that eluded me and modded it for less gain and tightened up the low end it’s a fantastic amp now . 1/2 the gain of stock but it’s tight like a marshall on dirty and on the clean the bottom end is more fender like .

I have a 3/4 ibanez rg and a full size rg for wall hangers my daughter wanted a guitar so I got matching guitars for us .

My main axe is a 1987 black MIJ strat 62 reissue with Hs-3 in bridge and middle and he’s-2’in the neck.the frets were super small and worn way down so I went to regret it and had a fire it warped the neck .
I scored a 2020 neve at music go round and it was ok .

The neck wood is kind of dead . I lightly scalloped it and I decked the bridge .
I was floating the strat bridge and man it held tune better than any Floyd I had .
I watched a great video of this italian guy on how to set up a strat bridge .
It worked great but the neck wood is dead and floating killed sustain some but resonance as well .
So I decked the bridge and put 10’s back on it with the scalloped . It doesn’t hold tune as well resting the bridge on the body which is really baffling .

I like this guitar a lot now.
My best sounding guitar is one I made of northern ash and a strat copy maple neck that was a baseball bat neck from 1984. I refretted it with bass frets then scalloped it deep .

I went 30 years with just a boss super overdrive and a 1972 cry baby tdk inductor wah and a tuner .

I started making and nodding pedals and now I have 10 on my board and 4 pedal boards . Plus 110 pedals on the shelf over 170 pedals total .

I make and sell custom pedals now for a part time job .
My fav pedal is my germanium boost pedal ! It’s wonderful for leads . Strong harmonic bloom !

My other main axe is a 1990 made in USA American standard strat 2 point whammy .i have a dinarsio Fast track 1 in the bridge fans hs-3 in neck and middle .
stop liberal propoganda
