I had been taking prevacid for years, when we moved the doc here refused to give me a prescription, you'll break a hip and blah blah blah. What am I going to do, I have a hiatal hernia and esophagitis from the acid. You can take OTC ranitidine, there isn't anything wrong with that. For 5 years now I have been putting this poison in my body, sometimes twice a day. It doesn't matter what I eat, the acid is my curse Quoting: Serepta Ann I quit taking it about 2 months ago when reports started to surface, I take frankincense and use alka seltzer chews. Not the same, I still suffer with the acid, especially at night If I come up with cancer I'm going to be so pissed, this is the only med I have taken (aside from an occasional antibiotic or steroid) Have you tried kefir or kombucha? Maybe you have a problem with your good bacteria. Might try a probiotic. There is a thread about probiotics in her in the last few days. Maybe eat some fermented foods like sauerkraut. I do all of those things (except kombucha), it doesn't matter what I do, it's just always there. BTW there are reports that kombucha is bad for you and your heart. I am considering the Amish cure at the gas station lol the guy at signal says they sell a ton of it and people swear by it take Gaviscon, it's like malox and drink during the night it will help you sleep I have tried all of them and the only one that worked they took off the market, I do buy the Walmart variety that has the simethicone, it is the only variety that helps You have to train your mind to be stronger than your emotions or you will lose yourself every time |

I had to stop taking Prilosec because of the leaching of calcium out of my bones. I stopped taking anti-acids due to the deposit of calcium into my arteries (how ironic that I get too much calcium in my arteries at exactly the same time I have calcium taken from my bones, where I need it). Now Ranitadine is bad. It was the only OTC left that actually worked. I guess I will have to watch my diet, and drink goat milk before bed. Newer is not better. Consider this. If big pharma came up with an expensive prescription pill alternative to drinking water that was made in China and carried a slight cancer risk, would you stop drinking water because the new pill was trendy and well-advertised? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73629851 United States 09/30/2019 12:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The blanket statement of "[blank] causes cancer" is bullshit. Example: Tobacco causes cancer. If something causes cancer then it will ALWAYS cause cancer (no exceptions). If you know of someone who lived well into their 80s or 90s and smoked but they didnt have cancer then that blanket statement is false. It's that way with everything the medical establishment tell us. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77046882 United States 09/30/2019 12:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you're overweight, losing a few lbs will likely stop heartburn. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77910229 Also, you need to stop it before it starts burning your esophagus, not after. I'll cut ya some slack because you said likely, but not true, my mother had it, I have it, my son has it. There is a huge genetic component to this and that means it doesn't matter if you are a size 2 or a 22 H Pylori can stay in a Family for decades. Ask your Dr to check you for it. Then if you have it he can give you Antibiotics. My Dad had it and after treatment he was free from the acid reflux he had suffered for years. He came to live with us and Dr. here treated him for it. So it is easy to check. If your Dr. won’t treat it, ask for a specialist second opinion. |

I would think adding acid to acid would not reduce acid. To neutralize an acid you need a base; something alkaline. DOOM is what you make of it. |
