I put the two injured chicken on the porch to get some fresh air and that damn coyote broke through the door and got the one with the hurt vent. I was just around the corner and could not save her this time. Heart breaking, we got close nursing her back to health. That vermin is dangerous, he will come after me next. Time to bait him and rid it for good. Never had this kind of problem with wild animal attacks like I have this year. One bird left.

Great Pyrenees dogs are great guardians of chickens and other small livestock. But very expensive and do not live long.

Donkeys are absolutely great guardians. Set up a ruckus like you cannot believe and attack intruders in a heartbeat.

I remember donkeys are good at kicking ass too LOL.
Bait it with some chicken scraps, sit and wait. Any ideas on poison bait, radiator fluid is not the same as it used to be.
I have been keeping the gun in reach but it so damned fast I can not hit it being half blind like I am. It gets more brazen by the day, it has to be taken out, it will come after me next, it is not afraid of me or the house and barn anymore.

It has been a hard week, found out two good friends passed last week, lost my garden winter food supply over the weekend to a freak September blizzard snow storm deep freeze and the last of my flock for winter eggs. If anything else goes wrong I might just cry or get drunk.

We need that chicken thread. The upside on the down situation LOL two weeks ago I would never have dreamed one of my free range birds would be running around the house in a diaper and potty trained.

I got a laugh out of our chicken diaper jokes on the old Orvil dam thread. I can not leave the injured bird in the wood box all the time, she needs room to roam. So I put a cheap dust mask with a tissue in it over her bottom. It worked great, she did not poop in it and when she was ready to go back into her box, I slid it up over her tail, she went poo on her roost and was ready to come back out. Potty trained right off the bat. SO funny to have her run around the house, fallowing me like a puppy, wanting to sit on my lap like a cat every time I sit down.

I let her in the bathroom when I took a bath so she was not afraid when it was her turn for her first bath.

I had to go to the hardware store today to get a plumbing part, (another thing that broke) Talked about solutions and diagnosed the problem. It is a wolf
