How much land do you have to plough over to to grow enough GMO soy to make veggie burgers and soy milk? How many animals are displaced to make room for these farms? What kind of chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used to ensure a good yield? How much processing does it take to turn those vegetable products into milk and meat substitutes? How much power is used to power the processing and packaging of these vegan products? What about the transportation of these products to market and the energy used to cook them? I would say it's more harmful to the environment than just letting cows graze until they are ready to be humanely killed, butchered and consumed. Anyone who thinks they are saving the planet by going vegan are just ignorant and lacking in common sense and reason. And now as I suspected, all those studies that said meat was bad for you weren't really true. It used to be that farms were mixed purpose. People grew a variety of crops and had livestock that produced milk, eggs, and manure to fertilize the crops. Farmers knew how to rotate crops to protect the soil. With the arrival of Monsanto and other huge agro corporations that sustainable farming ended and now they only grow one crop, which destroys the soil.
