Continued Prayers for you and your Family BBQ Boy.

I know we live in the same greater area. Could you please tell me how to get tested for matching your Dear Son?

I will call my Dr. tomorrow and ask if she thinks I'm in good enough health to be a possible donor.

Bright Blessings strong Father.

God bless you for that! What a gorgeous person you are! I know they would not take mine, not with lupus, or I would be on top of getting tested too!

We are going to try and get him down there this coming week to apply for SSI. Now that we have a diagnosis. Does anyone know what he needs to take with him? As far as Identification and paperwork?
 Quoting: BBQ BOY™

You should talk to someone to see which would benefit him more

SSI or SSDI

Do it ASAP because there is a wait period for SSDI

All the doctor's reports, their names and addresses, birth certificate, indication of need of transplant.

Start at DSHS first, PLEASE!!! So many have told you and explained to you - hurry up and do it so the bills will be paid and income started.

SSI alway refuses the first application and usually the second as well. IT will take many months to get the SSI - start first with DSHS.
 Quoting: Pooka

YES YES YES and it can take months to get an official birth certificate. It has to be the legal official certificate, not the birth hospital one. Get on that first.

Every thing is time sensitive. They will only cover back medical expenses for a short time. Your assistance payments start when your paper work is approved, every day lost waiting for paper work to file is less payments he will receive.
SSI payments will go back to the time you filed, even it it takes months they will back pay him to the time he filed. DSHS will start making a small payment to him each month of around $300 as you are waiting for the SSI to start and get you on medical and food assistance that will carry on once the SSI does go through, then the payments will be around $800 a month plus food around $100 and medical.

You do not have to have the official birth certificate for DSHS family services assistance just for the social security office, two different offices and organizations to file with.

Read every letter carefully as soon as it comes in. If you mess up and they do not get what they need on time you have to start over and loose any payments and back payments.

Also, you have to get on the section 8 housing list. It is a long waiting list so get started now. That is another office, organization and paper work process through Rural Resorses. Ask at the DSHS office for contact information. This is important, they will pay a good portion of his rent on the house or apartment of his choosing, that is within the guidelines. It can take a year on the waiting list so get started now and get the process going, once you are approved you will have plenty of time to find the right rental.

I have a Russian Orthodox icon and a blessed candle but don't know if I should pray until I get your families permission. I know how touchy some Christians can get outside of their Traditions. I'll figure out my kidney scenario this week which means in about 3 months time I will go see a Dr. ah, socialized healthcare...

I think they have tested for everything. The culprit seems to be a Hyper Thyroid gland, causing everything else to go haywire, including Kidney function, this is the dangerous part. I haven't read your PM yet. But we did read your post concerning this issue this morning. And the three of us discussed it at great length today.

We are humbled at your offer. But there is no way we could ask you or anyone to jeopardize their own health and well being for our son. You could end up in the same situation or worse than Dakota is in. We are speechless you would even suggest this. We are also very aware that there are others on the Donor list before Dakota. Some of those are Babies that never got a chance to make it this far. We have decided to take our place in line and pray for a quick solution and match not only for us but for the others in line.

As far as the other information we have received we thank all of you and are researching everything that has been suggested.

Keep in mind we just received a "Final Diagnosis" of Stage 5 Renal failure this past friday. For those of you following along, Stage 5 translates to Terminal without dialysis. So Fridays diagnosis was a critical step for us moving forward with assistance.

On a good note, we watched the Dawgs beat Auburn last night. We ate Grilled chicken sandwiches tonight. Our diet has changed drastically since all this started. And no dialysis until Tuesday.

Complications this week were minor. We went to fill a prescription on Saturday, one of seven. We had to leave one behind. it was over $1000 dollars for a 30 day refill. We are looking for the the reason because the first time we filled it, it only cost $28.... Hmmmm?

Thank you all for your support, you guys are amazing.

Too soon to give you more green, so I'll just put this here.

I don't know if you're a saint or an angel. Either way, you were sent from God.

God bless you, lovely lady!

I lit the votive candle in front of a small ROC foldable icon. It is just Jesus and Mary. I will go and see if your son and I are a match I'll try at least, as Des is. This thread is making me want to hug your whole family. I can not imagine what you are going through OP. It, it, ah, pains me to my soul.

There are some beautiful people on this thread. BBQB - I wish you would reconsider the fundraising, especially given the expense of his medication. Getting on MC/MA should help, but, you are facing many battles. I don't want to step on any toes and ask Trinity without your permission.

Hope Dakota enjoys his extra day off dialysis today. Much love.

BBQ, you do understand that if Dakota received a kidney from the donor list, the process, risks, and recovery are EXACTLY the same from the anonymous donor as from Des, right? EXACTLY the same, except that Des's kidney comes from love, from knowledge of the situation, from a wonderful case of giving, as it would from any member here. I would be volunteering if I didn't have lupus, which generally attacks kidneys. No doctor would allow me to donate. Not even yours.

Please take another look at Des' offer, and Lance's, and anyone else here who is willing to donate. The risks and all of it are the same for them as for the anonymous donor. Wouldn't you rather have a donor whose kidney came with love all in and through it, and from someone you could hug and thank in person?

Tuesday update: Dakota is at Dialisis as I type, he should be home around 9pm est. His aunt is picking him up tonight. He has to be at the Hospital at 1 pm tomorrow for a Ultrasound, not sure what this is about yet but we think its about the fistula port they are going to install on Dec 12th.

He should be bringing a 2724 from home with him tonight. We have got all his paperwork together so we can get him to the SSI office as soon as we can.

Thank you all for your support. We are humbled, truly humbled by the entire GLP community.

Wise words Pooka.

BBQ Boy. I have booked an appointment with my Dr. for this Thursday. I've already PMd you her name and office #.

This Thursday I'm going to have a complete blood panel done, and discuss with her, this issue. I will get total honesty from her, and I trust her opinion. The rest of the info I already PMd to you, you can confirm if you wish.

Continued Powerful Prayers for Dakota and your whole Family.

Bright Blessings...
