They gave his phone number to 7 different providers. Six called him and offered him similar plans. The only one that didn't call was Aetna, that's who his work insurance was with. Hes cost them upward of 1 million dollars in medical expenses so far. Im sure they were glad his insurance lapsed and I guess that's why they didn't call him.

Yeah, they want us healthy and paying premiums, not sick and costing them their precious profits.

with his age, it may be temporary and reversible. This is what I am hoping for you and him. E coli would be an acute injury.

for older folks, less of a chance of this.

I am praying he may come off dialysis

He has been classified as Stage 5 Renal failure

"Stage 5 CKD. A person with Stage 5 CKD has end stage renal disease (ESRD) with a GFR of 15 ml/min or less. At this advanced stage of kidney disease the kidneys have lost nearly all their ability to do their job effectively, and eventually dialysis or a kidney transplant is needed to live."

I get that the severity is there, was hoping and still hope for some recovery of function. People who survive the initial "insult" (medical term) may recover function over time.

ESRD seems to be used also as a classification to get aid, at least here in Delaware I have seen that. To get rides to dialysis covered by our state Renal assistance program.

AKI can drive the GFR down single digits, a stage 5 level for sure. Deadly without dialysis.

Right now he is doing dialysis on Tue, Thur,and Sat the longest he goes without it is two days. Sun and Mon off. When they did the fistula he went four days without. It was physically noticeable to us. He was very lethargic and his body was swelling up.

He is also having anemia problems. His hemoglobin level hovers between 8 and 10 usually. Fresenius doesn't seem concerned to much about it for some reason. He doesn't have a primary care Doctor, so he is dependent on the Doctor at the clinic.
