Before I forget, does he have a fever? Platelets and blood counts look good?

Thyroids dont go bad on their own. It takes something else like a tic born bite, brown recluse too. Both numb you when they bite. Also tainted recreational drugs.

I would look for a spider bite. Brown Recluse will do this type thing. So will the new tic bdisease called Babesis, Hosanna or Lone Star tic. They numb you when they bite and you wont feel it. Once sick you are too sick to look for the bite until day 5. it will become a large bump. Comes on slow, shuts down kidneys, big temperature swings 105 down to 95 depending on pain meds.

The thyroid has one primary job. Give the body up 1700 commands. "more water" "less water" "we need a jacket" "we are too hot", "we are hungry", etc. It speeds up and slows down the food in the intestines for example. Its sort of isolated from everything except from the other glands. Gland failure down the chain would stress out the thyroid before anything else would and that other gland failure would be obvious (adrenal fatigue, insomnia, obesity, acne, sick allot, etc)

90% of the time the only thing that would mess with the thyroid up is metal exposure. This is found in obese people. Chemical exposure or Radiation exposure are rare. Obese people are not "fat", they are "inflamed" from long term metal toxin exposure (poor foods, city water, afraid to sweat, vaccinations, even transferred through child birth in the womb) eventually effecting the thyroid..

Whatever you do don't let them pull the thyroid. 99% of the time this does nothing but fletch up the person even more. Get a 2nd opinion or different doctor. Dont let them guess. They are also dependent on thyroid meds for life (levothyroxine or levothyronine) and in the event of a crash and absence of meds the person becomes bed ridden. Only exception is radiation exposure.

Look elsewhere, insect bite would show a blood infection. If he did a drug that was tainted that would do it too so he needs to be honest. If he is a drug free type kid cool, but if he is at the experiment stage, you need to tell him (alone) that he needs to be straight up. He could go downhill. If his body temp sits at 95deg too long he could get organ failure. Thats why I said keep his temp high. Hospital will say "aaah, 96.8 is "ok". Thats BS. He should be 99deg all the time.

Hernia which is strangulating the intestines
Even mono

This is no time for him to be bashful. He needs to be straight up about everything.

Thank you I will keep everyone updated, we are taking things hour by hour at this point and as soon as I hear something new, I will let everyone know,

No he had no fever and his blood count has just dropped after three days in ICU, but it was normal prior to them doing the dialisis, he has had dialysis three times in two days, first time was two hours, the three hours then three hours again just shortly after that one. The last two times on dialysis they have given him a unit of blood shortly afterwards. Its 2:27 am here now and hes resting and asleep.

You are in my neck of the woods. I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through. I will pray for him. If you are spiritual you may want to look into doing communion for healing for him. I believe it worked along with prayer when my brother was given only 10 percent chance to live after a heat stroke. The same hospital was amazing saving him.
