A hotly debated law passed in May that would allow some teachers to carry firearms in the classroom takes effect Tuesday.

Some Florida teachers will be able to carry firearms in the classroom starting Tuesday, the result of a hotly debated law that was approved by the Florida Legislature in May.

The law, which gives school districts the option to arm teachers, as well as security guards, was passed in response to the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., which left 17 people dead. Teachers will be allowed to carry guns via the Guardian Program, which was created in the wake of the shooting.

wow, what good is a gun if it is in your car? Should have had it on her person.

Your car is an extension of your home.

Guns must be transported, and usually by car.

Having a CCW is the icing on the cake.

Even if guns are not permitted on school grounds, that teacher's vehicle is an extension of her HOME.

The idiots in the school administration turned it into a "gun free" slaughter zone.

But what's inside that teachers personal vehicle is HER business.

School shootings are done by professional shooters.

Local law enforcement knows this. They don’t act like they have a crazed line gunman. They act like they have a team of professional shooters in there

Please correct me if I’m wrong. There has been no photographic evidence or good eye witness evidence of crazed line gunman shooting up schools since Columbine.

There was that kid who came around the corner with a gun in his hands and got shot dead by security officer. I suspect that was the work of professional shooters too—Broward County circus was so over the top a dinky shooting was necessary to keep the whole thing realistic. A professional shooter shot some bullets then grabbed a kid, put a gun in his hands and sent him running— into the security officer who wasn’t in on it.

I don’t like this case for defending gun rights. Teachers with guns spook me. She was dumb enough to talk about it to a coworker! She’d be dumb enough to tell her class about it and some kid would be smart enough to get it out of her car and so something childish with it.

We would have. Wouldn’t you?

But it is forbidden to have it on the property of a school, hospital, bank, or bar.







Ironic in that she was probably hesitant to bring it inside, in fear of someone finding out. But instead gets betrayed by a coworker she thought she could trust.

It is critical to be able to access your weapon quickly

She should have kept HER business to HERSELF. I agree with you that she has every right to have a gun in her car. It’s her personal protection while she’s in her car.

A gun on school grounds had better be secured and blabbing about it is not securing it.

School administration didn’t search her car looking for policy- forbidden contraband. She announced it to them by telling her coworker. Very poor judgment.

That is absolutely not true.

I live in Florida and know the carry laws in detail. I CAN carry:

1) In a Bank
2) In a hospital
3) In a bar (if they serve food and I am in the portion that is dedicated to such). The only bar catch here are places that are booze ONLY and are on a full 3COP type license. Meaning, I can carry in any restaurant that sells beer and liquor.

I can not however carry at a school... But the parking lot and in the car is questionable. In Florida this is a fine line because of castle doctrine law and we have a "parking lot" law that prevents employers from telling you that you can not have a firearm in your car. That was thanks to Disney and they lost.

Coworker ratted her out ya? That’s why folks you keep that information concealed and private like your tighty whiteys.

She got fired for having her gun on school property.

Look up the meaning of the word concealed.

Had she concealed her concealed weapon she would have her job and her gun. She went about announcing her weaponC, her permit and her violation like she WANTED tonher fires.
