Edit, if you haven't already, carry some type of weapon with you. If you can't carry a firearm, carry a knife, expandable baton, pepper sray, taser, but carry something. The world is getting shittier everyday.
My boss who is in New Orleans had a black thug pull up beside him and smile and showed him his pistol. My boss promptly pulled his with a laser and put it between thugs eyes. Thug sped off.
