Trump calls for 'substantial' Fed rate cut ; Good possibility of trade deal with China

United States President Donald Trump said on Monday that he hopes to see a "substantial" interest rate from the Federal Reserve at its next meeting.

Trump claimed the interest rates need to be lowered further as a result of practically no inflation in the country. He added the US is already "doing better" than any other economy in the world but would be a "rocket ship" if the Fed took his advice on rates.

President Donald Trump said on Monday that there is a "good possibility of a trade deal with China" at the upcoming round of trade talks scheduled for Thursday. He went on to praise the effects of tariffs imposed on China, reiterating that China has "eaten the tariffs" as it has devalued its currency to offset the damaging impact of levies and "pumped a lot of money into their system."

Trump blasted Beijing for "targeting" US "farmers and ranchers," adding that the administration is "giving" $16 billion incurred from tariffs to agricultural producers. However, Trump hailed the relationship with China saying that "whether or not we make a deal I don't know, but the relationship is very good."
