Yes last time they did not shut down power and the winds came towns burned down and lives lost Quoting: Goofy for God I'm confused. I lived for a very long time in the USA, including 10 years in California, and until now, I have never heard of a fire being caused by windy, dry weather and the electrical grid. What did they change about the power grid that turned it into such a fire hazard? Also, I went through the quake of 1989 in Northern California. It was a big one that caused a lot of serious damage, but they managed to get the power back on within a couple of days. Quoting: BirdMom Here in Australia, on a very strong windy day, it could cause a tree limb to fall on to power lines, which could then cause a fire. Or white ants have eaten out the base of a power pole and it falls down causing a fire. Both of the above scenarios are uncommon but possible. Or a non aware tourist lights a small fire to cook with, a strong wind comes and blows hot embers in to the dry bush and then you can have a real fire emergency very quickly. There are too many ways a fire can start accidentally.
