My area in the canyons above the LA basin are expected to get 35-45 winds tomorrow through Friday with gusts in the 70’s. We were informed yesterday that there could be outages in our area. It will impact me mainly because I have a salon and no electricity and that means 2 days no business. This wind is not unusual, the outages are of course. This is nefarious in my opinion. The electric companies that were sued for the paradise fire will only be sued more by more for this reaction. It makes no sense, unless you use your imagination. Bottom line... acceptance of control over our daily lives.

I’ve got camping gear so we’re good for light and, we can put the freezer food on ice(for a day)but I’m sure for some this will be a big problem.

Yep, this makes no sense at all. 50 MPH winds are nothing for infrastructure. It happens to be the magical number for highrise construction. External man lifts, which are quite wobbly, must be shut down at that wind speed. No man lift, no work.

110 MPH wind speed is nothing to completed infrastructure--this is bullshit. If certain areas are vulnerable to falling trees or branches, then cut the mothers down.

Blame the California Public Utlities Commission

They set the rates, force PG&E to buy "clean" power produced at far above market rates (this include excess solar from a million homes), force them to "Donate" to hundreds of "Progressive Action" groups, and approved every single budget for the past 30 years.

In order to keep rates "low" to the consumer, CPUC scrimped on the maintenance budget...75% or more of a massive utility's costs. More money for graft that way.

When combined with a second offensive by the CalEPA to restrict clearing on their rights of way, they killed the largest public utility in America.

PG&E is facing at least $30bil in fire judgements and $100bil in maintenance backlog. Officers of the company have been threatened with criminal liability.

They ABSOLUTELY made the right decision to hit the off switch.
