I really missed the 80s music videos

Hahaha. I can sit here all day in front of this thread. This is great. This is probably the best GLP thread I ever encountered. The good old MTV. The good old USA.

Back in those days everything was made in USA. japan is just rising. We were visiting Radio Shack to buy electronic kits and shop KB toy store in malls to buy plastic models. Kids would sometimes open the paint bottles and just paint the store shelf. If store clerk catches you painting, you will have to buy the whole bottle.

I remember my best friend Carmen Russel (a boy). He was so kind to me. But at the end I was mean to him because I had a new best friend. I pushed Carmen down on the ground and he almost cried. I bear that shame and remoarse for the rest of my life. I wish I can find him and apologize for being such an asshole. Carmen. I am so sorry. I treasure our friendship. Do you still live in Ft. Lauderdale? I missed you carmen. I missed Michael Cummings too. I had such wonderful friends in Florida. Its so much better than California.

I adore watching Boy George. I saw him in concert and it was truly one of the best concerts I have attended.

Do you remember HBO's 'Not Necessarily the News"? That was a comedy show. They started to mock Boy George and started a gay hating trend. At the end Boy George became nothing but a clown that everybody is supposed to hate. So Boy George sort of left the industry and got into trouble with drugs. Poor guy. I don't care. I loved his music.

Back in those days romance was great, exciting and fun. Nowadays I am just a Mig Taw trying to protect my asset by not getting married. I swear in the 80s or 90s I could not imagine this would be the norm of society in the future.

When you talkin 80s you can't forget Stevie Wonder. This guy landed a major hit on MTV in 1984. This is not the original MTV video because I can't find it. But his MTV video was a major hit "I just called to say I love you." They played that shit like 2 months daily. It was amazing.

Beevis & Butthead are not from the 80s.

Music back in those days were so innocent. For example. This one. Celebration. They just want you to celebrate and have a good time. Not talking about drugs, not sex, Just you celebrate because you are happy.

After Murray Heads' monster hit "One night at Bangkok', many people try to immitate Murray Head's speaking song. Nowadays we call that RAP.

So this song Freak comes out at night came out soon after Murray Head's song.
You can tell this is a very early version of Rap.

Whodini's Freak song was realeast 1984.

This has got to be a mistake. I know that they claim this is from 1979. But I swear there was no such thing as rap before Murray Head's 'One night in Bangkok' came out in 1984. I remember quite well. I was in Florida and I was like 13. Then the term 'Rap' was invented. The early Rap sounded very stubborn, not that smooth. And the term 'Hip pop' came out much later.

But this song Rapper's Delight, he already spoke in his song the word 'rap' and the word 'hip pop'. I can't believe this. The wikipedia must be wrong. This was not what happened in my childhood. Rap took like 10 years to develop into the level that Rapper's Delight sounded like.

and in this song they used the term 'MC' and 'Throw your hands in the air acting like you don't care.'

This song sounds too modern. This can't be. If you listen to rap songs in 1984 they were all very stubborn and very boring. If he already raps like this in 1979 then why others rap like robots back in 1984?
