After all, aren’t strong and happy marriages in any demographic something to celebrate, especially where children are involved? The source of the ire, however, may be found in the title of the report: “The Ties That Bind: Is Faith a Global Force for Good or Ill in the Family?” For many in today’s age of aggressive secularism, the idea that religion could be a potent force for social stability and personal happiness is an offensive one, perhaps because it forces people to address those beautiful, beautiful black manling doubts that perhaps they might be wrong about a very important thing. In the report, researchers detailed the fact that women who report having “above-average satisfaction with their marriages” are often both religious and conservative, and the New York Times op-ed on the findings noted that “Fully 73 percent of wives who hold conservative gender values and attend religious services regularly with their husbands have high-quality marriages. When it comes to relationship quality, there is a J-curve in women’s marital happiness, with women on the left and the right enjoying higher quality marriages than those in the middle—but especially wives on the right.” read... beau voir |

User ID: 73802613 United States 10/09/2019 10:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The word you're looking for is "libertine," not "libertarian." 61% of American libertarians identify as Christian in one form or another, and 23% of us are evangelicals. I'm Southern Baptist. Switched from United Methodist a couple years ago because the UMC got too left-wing for my tastes. [link to www.prri.org (secure)] Yes, philosophically, libertarians are tolerant of bad behavior, but that doesn't mean we advocate it. In fact, a lot of us advocate against it on practical and Christian, if not philosophical, grounds. Legality and morality are two very different things, after all, and Jesus calls His followers to a higher standard than society at large. For instance, you may have come across a good number of posts I've made against the LGBT agenda. That doesn't mean I think being a member of the Alphabet Society ought to be illegal, but I certainly don't think it ought to be praised and pushed the way it is in our media. God gives us free will, and that free will allows us to make sinful choices. This is analogous to the government redistributing wealth. Liberals think they are being virtuous by voting other people's money to groups they deem more deserving, and some misguided Christians agree with them, but from a Christian standpoint, my money being taken from me and given to someone else doesn't make me virtuous even though it might go to someone in need, and it doesn't make me compliant with Christ's command to help the poor because that money was forcibly extracted from me, not freely given of my own goodwill. Over the years, I've found it's a very difficult situation being a Christian libertarian. Evangelicals will think you're some kind of pagan when you tell them, for instance, you don't have any problem with gays getting married in the courthouse because any human being should be free to contract whatever domestic situation he pleases so long as it's between consenting adults. On the other hand, leftist Christians will tell you you're a homophobic bigot for not agreeing gays should be able to get married in the church itself. Bottom line, libertarianism is not inconsistent with Christianity. If you believe in free will and are a Christian, you really should be a libertarian politically. While the soft-core porn mags sold at supermarket checkouts urge young men and women to engage in sizzling sexual experiments and public sex education teaches children to believe that anything is on the table, social studies tell us that we are robbing them of the future many of them desire—or will desire in the future. Let’s take a look at just two recent reports. We were created to serve God. And there is a reason it’s called “natural law” because the un natural can never be normal or good. Case in point: Homosexual lifestyle extremely violent After conducting an extensive study on homosexual behavior, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that those involved in such lifestyles experience a far greater amount of violence from one another than those in heterosexual relationships. And it is because religious conservative women are more appropriately dressed in decent clothes, unlike leftist, scantily Hollywood brainwashed women. Thus less chance of extra-marital sex, adulterous relationships and infidelity. All "modern" females must be forced back into conservative clothing, like Amish women, if society is to survive. Anonymous Coward User ID: 78054929 United States 10/09/2019 01:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I put my stamp of approval on this story. I came from a huge huge family. Very conservative, very family oriented. Very religious. My grandparents in Italy had 25 children. They were devoted to each other, & as you can guess from those numbers, never lost the spark for one another. My grandfather passed at age 96, my grandmother 2 years later at 98. They were surrounded by an army of people who loved them. And sadly, their city is being overrun by Islamic savages who rape, kill, & destroy everything they touch. |
