The town of Manbij may emerge as a potential flashpoint. Turkey & its factions continue to prepare for an assault tonight, the SDF agreed to hand it over to Assad & Russia. Jets and drones, apparently American, circling overhead now.

Assad and Russia won't be accepted there. Unless they're planning to cleanse the locals who oppose Assad, Manbij cannot be retaken by Assad.

Obviously, this entire operation, from the initial pullout through the complete pullout, is being coordinated between Russia and USA.

Soon, this will be Putins problem and instead of the USA being caught up in this mess, Russia will own it. From the USA being caught between the Kurds and turkey and a dozen other factions and sub factions. - now Russia will be caught up in the middle of it.

With unrest spreading in all of the main players' centers - Russia, Turkey, Iran - what it comes down to is who breaks first on the domestic front.

It's simple human reality. Assad's govt. simply will not be accepted or welcomed back to these areas. The population may certainly be 'handed over' to them, but then the next round of fighting the Assad will begin. Specifically, though, if the Assad regime takes all the territory to the Turkish border, then the millions in Turkey will NOT be resettled back into Syria. This fact, alone, negates the premise that Assad's forces can be allowed to reclaim these areas.
