I think the Turks know that Russia will be playing the part of the scarecrow in this conflict. They got nothing to gain by actually supporting Kurd/Assad’s forces on the ground. They’ll(Putin will) have strong words against “Turkish aggression” but no actions whatsoever. Assad will still be Putin ‘s bitch same way Iran’s Ayatollahs are, simply because they have no one else they can run to. Russia will do the minimum it will take to keep themselves as the dominant power broker in the region.
