Demonic? More like people at wits end with the churches' collective hypocrisy and futility and smashing shit to make a point. It is not a very effective one, as persons then think "demons" are active rather than consider that they are fucked in the head and culpable in the country's total destruction, but this is a pattern over 2000 years old.
